Biography
Growing up in a small mountain village in Switzerland, embedded in a musical environment, the pianist Gisela Horat founded her trio 2009. After a few changes in the line-up, for three years now drummer Samuel Büttiker and bass player Simon Iten are playing with Gisela. They are both experienced musicians with an impressive versatility that encompasses almost every style.
Gisela Horat's compositions are inspired by her own experiences and impressions. Through improvisation from the moment and mutual impulses, the music sounds different each time, oscillates between tranquillity and dynamics and moves somewhere between pop, jazz and minimal music. But the music tells always stories, creates moods and excitement and leaves the audience room for his own pictures.
Apart from the influences of Eric Satie, Bill Evans, Enrico Pieranunzi, Esbjörn Svensson and Sylvie Courvoisier, the classical background of the pianist is also noticeable. This gives a harmonic frame to the sounds pictorial and lyrical playing and thus appealing to an audience that normally has no access to jazz music.
