Biography
Manuela Villiger (*1992) is a Swiss multimedia artist, saxophonist, and performer based in Olten, Switzerland. Trained as a classical saxophonist, she has shifted her focus to creating interdisciplinary performances, installations, and performing contemporary music. She places a particular emphasis on the interplay of physical, performative, and digital elements, extensively utilizing live electronics, sensors, and new technologies. Her works mirror her fascination with logical and organic processes, her exploration of the human body, and her interest in socio-ideological themes. Regularly collaborating with international artists, she works both as a composer and performer and is a member of eventuell., Ensemble Sargo, BOLD, and BlasArt. She has been awarded with cultural grants from the Canton of Solothurn (2016) and the City of Olten (2020). In 2023 she has received a grant from the "Landis & Gyr Foundation" for a six-month artist residency in London.
